The default delivery will be remote delivery via Microsoft Teams administered by CPD@UCS. This is reflected in the content/ timings as stated. Should Government policy/University of Chester policy change we will revert to ‘face2face’ delivery if/ when appropriate.
The course will cover the following.
• Reading identities - children’s reading practices and experiences beyond school and teachers and readers
• Knowledge of children’s literature – texts that inspire
• A ‘Reading for Pleasure’ pedagogy – the essential elements
• Developing reading communities
• Practical classroom-based approaches
Outcomes
Delegates will
• understand the importance of reading for pleasure
• understand how aspects their own practice can impact children’s reading for pleasure
• know how to develop a reading for pleasure pedagogy
• be aware of a range of sources for developing their own knowledge of children’s literature
