Content
This course is for teachers, practitioners and TA’s who work with 3 and 4 year olds and will be delivered over 2 evening sessions
Following a successful bid for funding, Shropshire Early Years team are in a position to be able to offer training and resources for ICAN’s Early Talk Boost programme free of charge to all settings and schools with 3 and 4 year olds in in Shropshire.
What is Early Talk Boost?
Early Talk Boost is a targeted intervention for 3- 4 year old children with language that is delayed. The programme is delivered by trained practitioners and provides a structured programme that boosts children’s progress in language and communication by an average of 6 months after a nine week intervention.
Why should you sign up?
As previously communicated, The Speech and Language Therapy team are moving towards a graduated response model which, for some children, will involve collating evidence of having implemented one of the recognised screening and intervention tools prior to referral. Being able to deliver Early Talk Boost in your setting or school will enable you to evidence your graduated response.
What’s included?
One pack of resources per setting/school (RRP £500).
Online training for up to 2 members of staff (this should be a practitioner, teacher or TA that will be delivering the intervention)
Attendance at both evening sessions is required.
Outcomes
What will I learn?
The training will give participants the skills and knowledge to
· understand the rationale behind Early Talk Boost,
· identify appropriate children,
· measure their progress and deliver the intervention successfully.
