| This course will cover a) the key OFSTED and National legislations (including the Equality Act 2010) and guidelines (SMSC, PREVENT etc) relating to equality and diversity in schools b) develop an understanding of governors’ roles and responsibilities in relation to equality and diversity and the promotion of fundamental British values c) look at why issues around equalities and diversity need to be central to the ethos of a school and explore ways of promoting positive approaches to equalities and diversity |
Outcomes
| Delegates will gain an understanding of: a) how schools can meet their duty to eliminate discrimination, promote equality of opportunity and foster good relations between pupils; b) how embedding equalities and diversity in the school can support all children's social, moral, spiritual and cultural development; c) how schools can meet the needs of minority ethnic pupils and those learning English as an additional language |
